ONB Partners with TrueNorth on Investment Attraction and Skilled Immigration
Opportunities NB (ONB) is excited to announce a strategic immigration and investment attraction partnership with TrueNorth of Vancouver.
TrueNorth provides U.S.-based companies with resources and guidance required to establish or expand operations in Canada for employees impacted by changes to U.S. immigration rules, specifically the H-1B visa.
“We are always looking at unique ways to bolster our investment attraction efforts,” said Stephen Lund, CEO of Opportunities NB. “This partnership with TrueNorth helps solidify New Brunswick as the destination of choice for companies looking to establish their Canadian footprint.”
“ONB has positioned New Brunswick as North America’s nearshore jurisdiction,” said Michael Tippett, CEO of TrueNorth. “As a central point between Europe and the Americas, and with companies like IBM, Xerox, Salesforce, and ExxonMobil already having located strategic nearshore operations in New Brunswick, it made perfect sense to partner with ONB given our service offering.”
“While other jurisdictions struggle with immigration, New Brunswick understands the critical importance of companies being able to access great international talent.” said Mr. Lund.
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Project was launched in March 2017, a collaboration of federal and provincial governments designed to attract additional immigrants and their families to Atlantic Canada. This TrueNorth partnership will enhance New Brunswick’s plan to attract more skilled workers, and complement the province’s existing immigration efforts.
ONB is the only economic development agency in Canada providing clients with talent recruitment services. ONB Talent Recruitment Executives work in tandem with immigration officials and other partners to provide clients with tailored workforce solutions.
New restrictions on the H-1B visa are causing some of the most dynamic companies in the world to re-think where they house current and future employees. TrueNorth is responding to this need and has emerged as a leading advocate for U.S. firms who are looking for ways to ensure business continuity in the face of an uncertain immigration environment.
